Most people spend their summer vacations relaxing on the beach, or camping on the woods, or just enjoying the evenings with a good book. Here at Neon Tommy, we tried that, but just couldn't shake our pigskin fever.

That's why we spent our summer writing about the top 25 teams in college football. Each of our editors and football writers submitted his or her own ballot, and it was compiled into our preseason rankings.

Over the last two months, writers Scott Enyeart, Joey Kaufman and Eric Watkins previewed the 25 teams in one of the most successful projects in the short history of Neon Tommy Sports. The previews garnered a total of over 24,000 hits, and the articles were well-researched and analyzed the teams well.

Here is the final recap of our preseason Top 25, with links to each of the full previews.

1. Oklahoma (3 first-place votes) - "Heisman candidates Landry Jones and Ryan Broyles lead one of the most talented offensive squads in the country." - Scott Enyeart and Eric Watkins

2. Alabama (1 first-place vote) - "The Crimson Tide return ten starters from last year's group that ranked fifth in the country in total defense. The unit...ranked third in scoring defense. Intimidated yet?" - Enyeart and Watkins

3. LSU - "There’s an abundance of talent in Baton Rouge, and the 2011 LSU Tigers could mold into something extremely special." - Watkins

4. Oregon (1 first-place vote) - "They are unquestionably one of the fastest teams in the nation, and play with such a tempo that the speed differential between them and opponents is maximized." - Enyeart

5. Boise State - "With quarterback Kellen Moore back for his senior season, Boise State... figures to post double-digit wins, finish the season ranked in the top ten and possibly earn a spot in the BCS title game." - Joey Kaufman

6. Florida State - "Florida State has not won an ACC title or played in a BCS bowl game since the 2005 season, but 2011 looks like the year that both streaks will come to an end." - Enyeart

7. Wisconsin - "If QB Russell Wilson can make a seamless transition, and the defense can continue their exceptional turnover margin, there could be a special season in store for the folks in Madison." - Watkins

8. Texas A&M - "The 2011 Aggies' offense returns ten starters from last season, and they expect to pick up right where they left off." - Enyeart

9. Stanford - "There is no question that Andrew Luck is a superior talent, but the Stanford offense has other weapons to utilize." - Enyeart

10. Oklahoma State - "The transition to [new offensive coordinator] Todd Monken won't be seamless, but look for the Cowboys' offense to be one of the best in the country once again." - Watkins

11. South Carolina - "The schedule is the envy of the SEC, and perhaps the nation...they don't face LSU or Alabama in the SEC rotation, and they get both Florida and Auburn at home." - Enyeart

12. Nebraska - "A year ago, Nebraska was ninth nationally in scoring defense, fifth in passing yards allowed and 11th in total defense. And this season, they return first-team All-American candidates at all three levels." - Kaufman

13. Michigan State - "Senior quarterback Kirk Cousins, who threw for 2,825 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, is back under center, as well as junior running back Edwin Bakaer, who totaled 1,201 yards on the ground." - Kaufman

14. Arkansas - "The offensive onslaught Bobby Petrino will have at his fingertips during the 2011 season could mean long nights for opponents’ defensive coordinators looking to find a way to stop a multi-dimensional attack." - Watkins

15. TCU - "The D undergoes heavy losses, as it loses eight starters from last year's undefeated season. Still, though, because of Patterson’s success on the recruiting trail, there is enough talent left over..." - Kaufman

16. Notre Dame - "The Golden Domers have one thing every team desires: experience. They have it on both side of the ball, and they have it calling the plays from the sideline." - Enyeart

17. Virginia Tech - "With one of the weakest non-conference schedules, and another weak ACC to boot, no one should be surprised by another 10-win season for Beamer and company." - Watkins

18. Mississippi State - "Dan Mullen and the Mississippi State Bulldogs return their leading passer and top four receivers and rushers." - Watkins

19. West Virginia - "[Head Coach] Dana Holgorsen earned a stellar reputation as an OC while producing potent offensive attacks at Oklahoma State, Houston and Texas Tech. At WVU he inherits what could possibly amount to his best offense to date." - Enyeart

20. Missouri - "The Tigers return one of the best receiving corps in the country, with every wide receiver who recorded a catch last season back for 2011." - Watkins

21. USC - "The offense has a potential Heisman candidate at quarterback, along with multiple big-play threats at receiver and running back." - Enyeart

22. Georgia - "The defense, run game and offensive line are flawed, but a (comparatively) weak SEC schedule could help cool down Richt’s hot seat." - Watkins

23. Utah - "Utah is moving west, but not just to the Pac-12. After a decade of running the spread offense...the Utes are transitioning to the west coast offense under new offensive coordinator Norm Chow." - Kaufman

24. Florida - "The Gators' team speed is just ridiculous. The speed of the running backs is well-documented, but the speed on the defensive side of the ball will help Florida remain a factor in the ultra-competitive SEC." - Enyeart

25. Texas - "You might hear the word 'reinvent' a few times this summer in regards to Texas, which is looking to bounce back after its sub-.500 finish a year ago, losing five of its final six games." - Kaufman

Others receiving votes - Michigan, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Arizona State, San Diego State
