Arnold Schwarzenegger began this week making the rounds promoting his new autobiography "Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story" released yesterday. In his first stop at “60 Minutes”, he admitted to two affairs while married to Maria Shriver.

The body-builder slash action-movie star turned former California governor confessed to a tryst with “Red Sonja” co-star Brigitte Nielsen and elaborated on the known dalliance with the family’s longtime housekeeper Mildred Baena that resulted in a love child bearing his striking resemblance.

His delivery was smug and tone unapologetic in a sit-down with Lesley Stahl. And the critics couldn’t wait to pounce Monday, condemning the now successful businessman for his cavalier attitude toward his wife and 25-year marriage as a whole.

Schwarzenegger has said his affair with housekeeper Baena "destroyed my family", but it doesn’t seem to have destroyed his reputation with the public just yet.

Huffington Post reports masses lined city streets yesterday to grab a signed copy of Schwarzenegger’s book. Men outweighed women in the crowd out to support the former Mr. Universe and his transgressions detailed in his tell-all.

The Schwarzenegger apologists were more concerned with meeting their childhood icon and getting bodybuilding pointers than denouncing his misdeeds.

It remains to be seen if the book tour Schwarzenegger has embarked on will garner him support that crosses gender lines or damage his reputation with both sexes in the end, but if he escaped “Gropegate” unscathed, he may be able to pull through this too.

Or as Jon Stewart quipped during Schwarzenegger’s visit to The Daily Show, “Couldn’t you just go to the future and then come back and kill that Arnold?”

The two also discussed Schwarzenegger’s new State And Global Policy Institute at USC.
