The Richard Chai Fall/Winter 2012 show was full of Fall’s characteristic dark neutrals punched up with bold stripes and sweet florals. His first look, a striped blazer and pant, was perfectly on-trend with the current wave of head-to-toe prints. The slouchy shirts, palazzo pants, and chiffon blouses that followed only reinforced the image of casually easy chic. The collection’s clean lines and defined silhouettes, with belted dresses and cropped blazers, evoked an urban explorer, as did the backpacks carried by a number of the male models. The show ended with chiffon and florals, but kept the silhouettes clean and casual. In a few months the pieces are sure to be spotted on models off duty and fashion insiders everywhere.
