When the lights went up and the girls started their struts, BCBG Max Azria’s Fall 2012 collection stated it’s arrival to New York Fashion week with a minimalist impact only Azria can deliver. Soft 40’s-inspired silhouettes cut from flowing silk chiffon had fashion’s elite perking up on the edge of their seats.

Some strong pops of colors mixed with neutral color blocking was in line with the BCBG minimalist custom styling of color blocking.  One of the highlights was the chiffon pleated see through dresses underlain with pops of a coral/tangerine orange.

Models looks were kept minimalist and streamlined with slicked back ponytails and barely-there makeup.  A strong black lined cat eye brought the vintage aesthetic full circle with silhouettes reminiscent of that era.

Impossible to overlook was the collection's saturation of fur detailing.  Fur scarves and strategic fur detailing on classically structured coats were a hit and miss for some. To be honest, the fur scarf felt a little reminiscent of Louis Vuitton's Fall 2010 line.

Take away all that fur, (unless it’s included in the wonderfully structured jackets Azria is known for), and you have a gorgeous, minimalist, ready-to-wear collection.  The collection re-invents classic silhouettes with minimalism at its core and dashes of trend-setting appeal.

Color blocking stays on trend for the fall 2012 season and BCBG Max Azria revolutionizes the trend, making it wearable for the woman on the street.  If you were too afraid to try the trend before, you will find it easy to adapt with this collection.

The to-die-for fashion moment appeared at the end of the show, with a white silk chiffon silhouette dress with sheer silk paneling sweeping down the runway.  The model appealingly floated down the runway with an ethereal gamine quality that left the crowd desiring her look.

Max Azria;s collection felt safe for the Fall 2012 season.  He took some classic silhouettes and mixed them with his modern tailoring that appeals to all women’s shapes and sizes.  The color blocking felt fresh for the season and he is sure to have a hit on his hands for this collection.
