First U.S. Ebola Patient Dies In Dallas Hospital

The first patient in the U.S. to be diagnosed with Ebola died this morning.

Thomas Eric Duncan, 42, had been in isolation at a hospital in Dallas since Sept. 28 after traveling to the city from West Africa. He had begun receiving an experimental antiviral drug brincidofovir, recently emergency-approved by the FDA, over the weekend.

Duncan had "fought courageously in this battle," said the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where he was treated.
