“Who is the enemy? The Palestinian people. Why?..They started [it].”

These inflammatory remarks were posted to Facebook by Ayelet Shaked, a Knesset member of the far-right Jewish Home party. The post appeared one day before the brutal murder of Palestinian teen Mohammed Abu Khdeir (via The Daily Beast).

Shaked has been repeatedly condemned by the Israeli press, notably Ha’aretz, for her extremist position. She remains unapologetic and has never suggested that any Israelis are responsible for the recent upsurge of unrest.

“…The morality of war knows that it is not possible to refrain from hurting enemy civilians.”

Shaked alleges that the pose was originally composed by a Netanyahu associate in an unpublished article that compared the political climate in Israel to that of WWII-era Europe.

The post, which also calls Palestinian children “little snakes,” has amassed over 4,000 likes and nearly 1,000 comments.
