'Game Of Thrones' Overtakes 'The Sopranos' For Most Popular HBO Series

It's official! The time has come for a new drama to claim the throne.

HBO announced on Thursday that "Game of Thrones" - with an average of 18.4 million viewers per week - has surpassed "The Sopranos" - which boasted a gross audience of 18.2 million viewers per week - as the most watched series.

"The Sopranos" set its record in 2002. Now, over a decade later, the mobsters are passing the torch to its new king.

"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on the premium cable network.
