NBA Bans Clippers' Owner Donald Sterling For Life

Tuesday, during a live press conference, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that disgraced Clippers coach Donald Sterling would be fined $2.5 million dollars, and banned from the NBA for life. Silver also announced that he would try to force a sale of the team.

Commissioner Silver said that the NBA had conducted an investigation and interviewed Sterling. Sterling admitted to Silver that the audio tapes of his racist remarks were authentic. Silver called Sterling’s comments “deeply offensive and harmful,” and “contrary to the principles of inclusion and respect” of the NBA league.

Commissioner Silver said that the $2.5 million dollar fine was the maximum allowed by the NBA constitution, and that the money would be donated to anti-discrimination organizations.
