Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis' decorated 17-year NFL career was capped off with a Super Bowl XLVII win in New Orleans on Sunday, in a game that saw both teams' offenses light it up as a power outage delayed play for 34 minutes.

The Ravens held off a late San Francisco 49ers charge to emerge with a 34-31 win at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to capture the franchise's second Super Bowl title. The 'Niners scored 17 unanswered points after the stadium lighting was restored, but Baltimore's defense successfully protected the lead by thwarting a fourth-and-goal fade route to Michael Crabtree with under two minutes left.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco took home Super Bowl MVP honors after throwing for 287 yards and three touchdowns to conclude a postseason run that included victories over the likes of Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos and Tom Brady's New England Patriots. His 49er counterpart Colin Kaepernick recorded 302 yards passing and ran for 62 yards to go with a touchdown throw and interception.

Anquan Boldin led the Ravens with six receptions for 104 yards, while Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis each logged 100-plus yard receiving games for San Francisco. 'Niners running back Frank Gore carried the ball 19 times for 110 yards and a touchdown.

It appeared the Ravens had blown the game wide open on a Jacoby Jones NFL postseason record-setting 108-yard kickoff return to stretch the lead to 28-6. However, it took the 49ers only four minutes to turn the rout into a spirited shootout.

San Francisco got the ball back down a field goal after Ravens punter Sam Koch took a safety to leave four seconds left on the clock. Ted Ginn Jr. returned the ensuing kickoff to midfield before time ran out on the NFC champs.

Lewis, a 13-time Pro Bowler who announced he would retire after the season, recorded seven tackles en route to picking up his second career Super Bowl ring. The game also pitted brothers John and Jim Harbaugh against one another, with John coming out on top in the battle of sibling head coaches.

While the Ravens as a franchise are now 2-0 in Super Bowl games, it was San Francisco's first defeat after going 5-0 in its previous trips to the big game.
