Catfish And The Bottlemen On Drunk Drummers, A Whirlwind 2015 and Success: Interview
The year is barely half over, but the band has already toured the world more than once and secured a gold album under their belts. Their stellar debut, “The Balcony,” has spent more than 45 weeks on the Official Charts and reinvigorated the indie music scene with vibrant guitar rock that actually makes you feel something. It’s hard to pinpoint why or how the band has gotten where they are, but one can attribute parts of their success to nearly a decade of relentless gigging, outrageously catchy hooks and riffs and a burning passion for music and people.

These people, namely fans who would stake out at the venue from six in the morning (as some did in New York) to be front and center, helped crown Catfish And The Bottlemen the bonafide indie heroes of tomorrow. At their gigs, they can be seen with their arms up, screaming along to all the songs and chanting all the melodies.
I spoke to Bondy (Johnny Bond, guitarist) and Benji Blakeway (bassist) ahead of the band’s recent sold out show in New York City’s iconic Webster Hall about music, touring and everything in between. The two were obviously tired, coming off of a crazy Bonnaroo weekend, but nonetheless delivered a magnanimous show with the other half of the band. For those who missed it, fret not, the band will return to Los Angeles on September 29, and you can find tickets here.
