'Fifty Shades Of Grey': The Protests and Promotions

There is hardly any grey area when it comes to the responses leading up the opening weekend of the film, 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. Some anti-domestic violence groups are protesting the film, according to a Washington Post article that discussed the Twitter hashtags #50dollarsnot50shades and #FiftyShadesIsAbuse, both created protestors.

However, there are corporations like Target and New York City Hotels that are capitalizing on the sex appeal of the controversial R-rated film. 

There is one Target receiving some backlash because a 'Fifty Shades' sex toy display right next to a children's toothbrushes, according to an Entertainment Weekly article in which Target defended their placement choice.

A Chicago Tribune article talks about how the online ticket seller, Fandango put toget

her a list of the top 10 states where "'Fifty Shades' pre-sales are much larger than expected":
