For these five artists, it has been way too long since they last released new music and that is unacceptable. It is time for these artists to treat our ears with a new album.

Frank Ocean

It feels like forever ago that Ocean released his Grammy-winning album “Channel Orange.” It was an instant classic that went against the grain. A piece of art that really did not have any radio hits and was most popular amongst people who already knew of the artist, but he did earn critical acclaim for his debut album. But that was released all the way back in the summer of 2012, so we are way overdue for some new sounds from Ocean. He was featured on Kanye’s latest album for a few seconds, and he did appear on Beyonce’s latest release, but we are dying for a full album from this innovative artist. At least release a single or something to end the drought. Is that too much to ask for?

Rihanna

There was a time just a few years ago when it seemed as if you couldn’t go a month without hearing a new Rihanna song as she was constantly releasing new material. She hasn’t released an album since November 2012, which in the music world, is too long ago. The good news is that we do know an album is on the way and she will be assisted by one of the best in the game in Kanye. West revealed that he will be the executive producer of Rihanna’s upcoming eighth studio album. Rihanna has already given us a taste of her latest work when she released “FourFiveSeconds,” the first track from her album where she is assisted by both West and Sir Paul McCartney. The song is different than anything Rihanna has done before so it will be interesting to see if the rest of her album follows suit or if the single is one of a kind. Either way, Rihanna should be back and dominating the charts in no time.

A$AP Rocky

It wasn’t that long ago that the rapper from New York was being put in the conversation for best rapper in the game. However, it is kind of hard to win that title when you have not released much new music since 2013. His debut album “Long. Live. ASAP.” received critical acclaim and even debuted atop the Billboard 200. The song had one of the biggest hits of that year, “F*ckin’ Problems,” and it appeared as if Rocky was destined to catapult to the top of the rap world. Although rather than being as soon as possible in making music, he has been somewhat missing in action.  He did release a song late last year with Juicy J called “Multiply,” but other than that, Rocky has all but been irrelevant and passed up by the other rappers in the game. Hopefully he can come back and make a big impact and reestablish himself as one of the best in the genre.

Adele

Who? It almost feels as if Adele does not even exist anymore. She had one of the most successful runs of any artist back in 2011 when she released “21,” and album that ultimately won six Grammy awards. She was destined to take over the world and be the next big thing. Granted, she kind of was the biggest deal in music for a year or two, but ever since, she has fallen off the map and our ears are suffering from the lack of her beautiful voice. I guess she gets a pass because she had a kid, but I am being selfish and I want more Adele.

Kanye West

Yes, I know he has recently released a few new songs, but you can never have enough Kanye West. His album is on the way and we are bound to get a whole new Kanye West as we do every time he releases an album. It will be controversial and a lot of people won’t like it, but that’s Kanye West and that’s what makes him such a great artist. The only thing that can get us through a lack of new Kanye is the fact that old Kanye never gets old and every album he has released has gone on to be a classic in its own right. That being said, it’d be nice to know when his new album was coming out. It’s Yeezy Season afterall.
