Islamist Militants have taken control of an army base in the northeast Nigerian town of Baga, Reuters reported Sunday. The base is technically the headquarters of a multinational force that is composed of troops from Niger, Nigeria, Chad, and Cameroon. Nigerian soldiers, however, are the only ones stationed in Baga. The troops fled Baga on Saturday after an attack by Boko Haram fighters in military vehicles.

The militants also captured 40 boys and young men from the village Malari that ranged in age from 12-25, according to the Associated Press. The militants gained international attention with the April kiddnapping of 276 schoolgirls.
