California Music Fest Set To Coincide With NAMM 2015

This weekend the California Music Fest, which was created to coincide with NAMM 2015, will be bringing “3 Days of Music & Madness” to The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA from January 22-24. Each day of the festival is a different celebration show based around rock legends including the ultimate drummer, John Henry “Bonzo” Bonham of Led Zeppelin, guitar legend Randy Rhoads, and rock’s mightiest rhythm section, John Entwistle and Keith Moon of The Who, which happens to be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. These events pay respect to deserving icons of rock, as well as bringing together passionate camaraderie when this many great musicians get together for a common love. This is one festival that you will not want to miss.

Each day of the festival is actually a well established event in itself that has taken place already across the nation and have now come together for one rockin’ weekend. The shows will be featuring artists from renowned acts such as Guns N’ Roses, Femme Fatale, Neil Young, Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Sons of Anarchy, Anthrax, Twisted Sister, Styx, Marilyn Manson, Foreigner, Jane’s Addiction, The Cult, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and many more will grace the stage for an unforgettable experience.

January 22, 2015 (Thursday) – Bonzo Bash

The first event to be created by drummer Brian Tichy and promoter Joe Sutton, Bonzo Bash started in 2010 to celebrate the drumming legend John “Bonzo” Bonham and has taken place across the country, from California all the way to New York. The first show took place on September 25th on the 30th anniversary of Bonham’s passing and this one is sure to be the mightiest one yet, This show features the world’s best drummers playing their favorite Led Zeppelin tunes on all 4 Ludwig drum kits Bonham used throughout his career with Led Zeppelin. 

Bonzo Bash will be featuring legends Bill Ward and Carmine Applice, plus artists from AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Lady Gaga, Jason Aldean Band, DIO, Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Stone Sour, Alice Cooper, Lenny Kravitz, Slayer, Jane’s Addiction, Foreigner, Anthrax, Sebastian Bach, Marilyn Manson, Styx, and many more. January 23, 2015 (Friday) – Randy Rhoads Remembered

Randy Rhoads Remembered was the second celebration event produced by Tichy and Sutton, with the first one selling out and taking place during NAMM weekend 2014. Tichy and Sutton conceived this event in 2013 and agreed that Randy Rhoads deserved fresh recognition for his musical impact. This show highlights the industry’s top guitarists, playing every song from the iconic Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman records and then some! Amongst the best guitar players in the world rocking their favorite Rhoads songs, Randy’s brother, Kelle Rhoads, performs on stage and both his sister Kathy and he share their stories throughout the night making this a very touching and personal experience for all involved. 

Artists that will be saluting Rhoads are Sebastian Bach, Rudy Sarzo and artists from Bon Jovi, Journey, Madonna, Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Megadeth, Testament, Foreigner, Anthrax, Billy Idol, and DIO, just to name a few. January 24, 2015 (Saturday) – Entwistle / Moon: The Ox & The Loon

In April of last year, Tichy and Sutton got an offer to put on a show at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. However, instead of using one of their already established shows they decided to create a new celebration concept. And thus, a night in celebration of rock’s mightiest rhythm section, John Entwistle and Keith Moon of The Who, was born. The show will be This show highlights the most renowned bassists and drummers to come together in honor of these rhythm section legends. Additionally, this is the 50th anniversary of The Who so there is no telling how incredible this show is going to be.

Artists from Guns N’ Roses, P!nk, Rod Stewart, The Firm, Slayer, Journey, Poison, John Fogerty, Jeff Beck, Ace Frehley, DIO, Jane’s Addiction, Foreigner, and Whitesnake will be paying homage to the duo. (Full list of performers available on flyer at the bottom of the page).
