The indie crime drama, "The Lookalikes" premiered Wednesday night, with many stars showing up to the vintage Los Feliz 3 Cinema Theater in Los Angeles to watch the cast and crew’s hard work displayed on the big screen.

This low-budget film centers around the relationships of an ex-basketball champion, a deaf beauty, a cocaine addict, and an aspiring actress as they desperately try to please a drug lord in the heart of New Orleans.

Big name stars like Jerry O’Connell from the film "Jerry Maguire" and "The Blacklist" actress Scottie Thompson were among the cast members to hit the red carpet before the film began.

Playing one of the film’s main characters, Joe Mulligan a former basketball player, O’Connell talked about how he prepared for his role.

“The toughest thing about this role was that I played a former basketball star and I had to do about a month of basketball training with borderline professional basketball players,” O’Connell said. “I’m not that very good at basketball and it is the most tiring sport, but these athletes were amazing and at peak physical condition.”

Actress Thompson also talked about how she prepared for her role as Mila, a one-legged deaf woman, who sparks up a romantic relationship with O’Connell’s character Joe.

“I just thought about how to realistically convey someone with a prosthetic leg and for the deafness I interviewed someone that had just recently recovered her hearing through a surgery,” Thompson said.

She also spoke about why she decided to be apart of the film.

“I fell in love with my character and the story as a whole. It’s very complicated and involved,” Thompson said.

The cast’s passion and love for the storyline was what the film’s director Richard Grey believes motivated the film’s creation.

“My wife wrote the script that just blow us away and it was lovely to go to New Orleans to shoot, but we didn’t have any money; everyone was there for the script,” Grey said. “It was a beautiful experience.”

In making the film, Grey said it was the on screen chemistry between O’Connell’s character and Thompson’s character that he really enjoyed filming.

“My favorite scenes are probably with Jerry O’Connell and Scottie Thompson. Their dating sequences really felt so really and organic to me,” Grey said.

This fast paced film will hit theaters Friday, November 7 and will also be available on iTunes November 11. For more information on this film visit "The Lookalike" webpage here.
