AT&T Announces The End Of 'Super Cookies'

AT&T announced Friday that it will be phasing out the use of "super cookies" to track mobile activities of users.

These "super cookies" focus on mobile surfing in order for companies to show relevant advertisements tailored to each user. Yet, customers cannot easily opt out of the service, allowing third-party advertisers to build detailed, permanent profiles of visitors without their consent. 

The company says it may launch a similar program again in the future, but with an ability for users to opt out.
