US Launches First Air Strikes On ISIL In Syria

The US and allied nations have launched the first airstrikes against ISIL militants in Syria.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm Kirby released a statement Monday confirming that a decision to strike Syria was made by the head of the US Central Command Lloyd Austin, "under authorization granted him by the commander in chief."

According to the BBC, Arab nations were among the countries involved in the strikes. No other details have been given at this time.
