“Play It Again, Dick” starts off with Ryan Hansen bringing back the “Veronica Mars” character Dick Casablancas, but he is playing as himself.

It's certainly a new spin to the cult show.

For those of you just catching up with “Veronica Mars,” Dick Casablancas is an obnoxious rich kid, who is Logan Echoll’s (Veronica’s love interest) best friend.

The show follows Ryan Hansen (acting as himself) trying to promote his idea for a “Veronica Mars” spinoff to CW. His pitch is a show called “Private Dick”—Dick as a private investigator, that is.

Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) and Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls) are back for the web series too.

Bell and Hansen have great chemistry, as they did on the 2004-2007 show “Veronica Mars,” because they are good friends in reality.

Ryan says in the show, “'Veronica Mars' has heat right now...I’m counting on the marshmallows showing up."

The almost-eight-minute web episode featured CW Network’s president, Mark Pedowitz, and executive vice president of development, Thom Sherman, as Ryan pitches his spinoff to them.

The series continues to be written by Rob Thomas, the creator of “Veronica Mars.” During a Comic-Con interview in 2013, Thomas said that he always wanted a rated R version of “Veronica Mars.” Now, with “Play It Again, Dick,” we see more freedom with language.

The show premiered online on CW Seed. As the upcoming episodes continue to show online, we can only hope to see more old faces from the show as guest stars.
