The recent ice bucket challenge movement has inspired millions- including celebrities and notable politicians and entrepreneurs- to to donate to relevant charities and raise awareness for ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

While not related to ALS itself, Ayman Aloul, a Gaza-based journalist, was inspired by the trend to conduct a "rubble bucket challenge" to bring attention to the deteriorating situation in Gaza.

"I liked the idea of the ice bucket challenge, so I decided to invent the Palestinian version," Aloul says in his YouTube video.

People across the world have begun their own rubble bucket challenge as well, tagging their tweets with #rubblebucketchallenge. Read more about the movement at Guardian Liberty Voice.
