Parents of three of the victims of Elliot Rodger’s killing spree in Isla Vista spoke out and criticized the handling of the case by authorities, reports The Daily Beast.

UCSB students James Hong and David Wang were Rodger’s roommates, who he killed on May 23 along with George Chen, a friend of Hong and Wang. Rodger lived with Hong and Wang as a result of being randomly assigned the same room.

The three victims’ parents are frustrated with what they claim is failure by the police department to identify that Elliot Rodger had murderous intent. One such incident in July 2013 involved Rodger trying to push some women off a high ledge at a party.

Hong, Wang and Chen shared engineering classes at UCSB and had aspirations to create a startup after they graduated.
