Rihanna's Perfume Ad Banned In The United Kingdom
An advertisement for the pop star’s new fragrance Rogue by Rihanna has been banned in the United Kingdom for being too racy.
In the pictures, the Barbadian beauty poses topless, wearing a pair of black heels, as she curls up next to the perfume bottle. However, these prints seem relatively tame compared to the revealing, nipple-baring gown the 26-year-old wore to the CFDA Awards earlier this week.
The United Kingdom’s Advertising Standards Authority prohibited the photo because “it featured a sexualized and provocative image, which was inappropriate for children to see" and was "demeaning to women."

“While we did not consider the image to be overtly sexual, we considered that Rihanna’s pose, with her legs raised in the air, was provocative. Because of this, and the fact that Rihanna appeared to be naked except for high heels, we concluded that the ad was sexually suggestive and should have been given a placement restriction to reduce the possibility of it being seen by children.”
According to The Washington Post, Parlux Fragrances, the company behind the ad, claimed they have not received any other complaints about the photo. They contend that the singer is best known for her seductive music and aura, and they wanted to capture her essence in the campaign.
"The majority of women would not consider the portrayal of Rihanna to be demeaning. But rather, she was depicted as being in a position of power, as indicated by the name ‘Rogue,’ which suggested one with the courage to challenge boundaries.”
