9 Cover Songs We Never Want To Hear Again

Let's give it up to these adventurous folk who took perfectly good songs and added their own "special" flare. They really went for it, but we wish they didn't.

Here are 9 covers that didn't exactly work.

"Part of Your World" - Carly Rae Jepson

Every time a Disney movie gets re-released on DVD, Disney finds it necessary to have a young pop star record their version of a classic and include it in the DVD's special features. If only this version could stay buried beneath the sea. Here is what can only be described as a travesty:

"The Time (Dirty Bit)" - The Black Eyed Peas

Fool proof money-making plan: Take a universally loved/recognizable chorus, add lyrics like "I got freaky, freaky, baby. I was chillin with my ladies," and input obligatory synthesized beats. Ta-Da! You've turned an 80's love story into yet another "partying in da club" song.

"Last Christmas" - Taylor Swift

As if the world needed another "Last Christmas" cover, let alone one from the self-proclaimed perpetually brokenhearted girl. This makes a great addition to the list of needless re-recordings of WHAM's classic, especially if you love whiny pop stars. Let's hope 2013 was the last Christmas we ever heard this on the radio.

"Rich Girl$" - Down with Webster

This "gem," was performed by a (thankfully) relatively unknown Canadian pop/rock group, showing the world that it's hard to produce original material even with 7 band members. The video includes a typical high school party with lots of rapping and red cups. Notice how they added an "$" in the song title, adding that extra "oomph." The band's title is self-fulfilling; down with Webster, please.

"Africa" - Karl Wolf

You may remember Toto's 80s hit single "Africa" describing a fairly simple love story. Now imagine a shirtless man in a red cap next to a surplus of models on the beach singing this song. The simple formula works again: Find a good song, ruin it, but include a lot of bikinis so it sells. Another 80's classic is destroyed.

"I Love Rock'N'Roll" - Britney Spears

Oops she did it, (hopefully never) again. Britney thought she'd add a little pop flare to this Joan Jett classic. There's not much else to say other than no, just no.

"We Will Rock You" - Nickelback

Oh boy, here we go. Objectively speaking, this cover isn't as laugh-worthy as the others but c'mon, it's Nickelback. With an article title using the words "Never want to hear," I was obligated to include them in this list somehow.

"Wonderwall" - One Direction

Brilliant plan: give 5 pre-pubescent boys a guitar and let them butcher "Wonderwall" by the ocean. Let's just say, a beached whale smells better than this sounds. If anyone needs "saving," it's whoever's listening to this cover.

"Don't Stop Believing" - GLEE

Especially after this cover- I did, in fact, stop believing.
