On Wednesday, an explosion in a busy shopping district in Abuja, Nigeria killed at least 21 people and injured 17 more.

"We heard a really loud noise and the building shook, and people started screaming and running out,” Chiamaka Oham, who was near Emab Plaza at the time of the blast, told the BBC.

The blast occurred as Nigerians were gathering to watch the Nigeria’s soccer team compete against Argentina in the World Cup, but it is unclear whether the explosion was scheduled around the match.

The explosion follows a World Cup-related attack by a suicide bomber in Nigeria and other acts of violence surrounding the games.
