Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith may be in hot water for their parenting.

Radar Online reports that the couple is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services after a photo of their 13-year-old daughter Willow Smith laying in bed with shirtless 20-year-old “Hannah Montana” actor Moises Arias went viral earlier this month.

“The investigation was formally opened last week and is being taken very seriously by the department,” a source told Radar. “Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been extremely cooperative with officials. Of course, they aren’t happy that their parenting skills are under scrutiny, but they understand.”

The source continued, “Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well. This won’t just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month, out of an abundance of caution.”

In the controversial black and white shot, which was originally posted on Arias’ Instagram and Tumblr accounts and has since been deleted, the “Whip My Hair” singer is fully clothed, wearing jeans and a tank top.

Jada Pinkett Smith vehemently defended her daughter and the picture when confronted by TMZ photographers at LAX. "Here's the deal: There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it and you're acting like covert pedophiles, and that's not cool,” the 43-year-old actress said.

Will Smith has yet to make any public statements about the incident.
