'Spring Breakers' Sequel Is Official

This time around, a group of girls will be up against an "extreme, militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them." Yikes, party's over?
Harmony Korine, who directed the original cult favorite won't be returning for a part two. Instead, "Spring Breakers: The Second Coming" will be directed by Jonas Akerlund, the same big name who directed Beyonce's "Haunted" and Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" music videos.
"Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh wrote the sequel's screenplay.
Don't expect this "Spring Breakers" to be exactly how you remember the first one.
"It's not a direct sequel, although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original," producer Vincent Maraval said.
Womp.
No one has yet been confirmed to star, but Maraval assures us the sequel will comprise of both new and familiar faces.

However, there is a slight issue. This movie will be produced for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival market. If it were to underperform sales-wise or was not deemed a hit with the masses, the movie may never reach theaters.
As every experienced partygoer knows, even the ragers don't last forever.
