Spec. Ivan Lopez took to Facebook before the mass shooting at the Fort Hood Texas army base, saying mass shooter Adam Lanza sought "international attention" and a "minute of fame as a villain,” CNN reported Sunday.

Under the account name “Ivan Slipknot,” an homage to the metal band, Lopez said Sandy Hoo Elementary shooter Lanza “pretends to be a victim of mental illness followed by addiction to violent video games,” New York Daily News reported.

“It is stupid to me that anyone can have easy access to a powerful weapon without being mentally evaluated,” Lopez wrote in the Facebook post.

Lopez went on shooting rampage April 2 after an apparent argument over paperwork, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

The argument blew up after the 34-year-old military truck driver asked to take a leave of absence.

He killed three people and wounded 16 before shooting and killing himself.

USA Today reported that President Barack Obama and the first lady will attend a memorial service in Texas on Wednesday.
