Beyoncé Named One Of TIME's 'Most Influential'

TIME named Beyoncé one of 2014’s “100 Most Influential People” and featured the star on the cover. Cue the “duh” heard ‘round the world.

Inside the issue, a short explanation by Sheryl Sandberg—author of “Lean In” and the creator of the “Ban Bossy” campaign which features Beyoncé as a spokesperson—tells people what they already knew. The past year saw her shatter records with a surprise album, sell out a world tour and generally take the world by storm.

Though the choice of Beyoncé seems obvious, but she isn’t the only pop star to make the list. Miley Cyrus (and, presumably, her tongue) also scored a spot. So did Carrie Underwood thanks to her turn as the star of NBC’s live musical experiment, “The Sound of Music Live.”
