Ten years ago, on April 30, 2004, a little comedy about a popular clique of catty teenage girls was born…and the rest is sweet history.

Over the past decade, “Mean Girls,” starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, has become one the greatest, and most quoted, chick flicks of all time. But, as Gretchen Wieners taught us, it shouldn’t be punished for being well-liked. 

The film raked in $121 million worldwide at the box office and continues to resonate in pop culture because of its social media presence and, of course, everyday conversations between friends. Admit it. Phrases like “That’s so fetch!” and “You can’t sit with us!” have mysteriously made their way into your vocabulary at one point or another.

Comedian Tina Fey transformed Rosalind Wiseman’s book “Queen Bees and Wannabes” into a genius script that is just as hilarious, honest and relevant today as it was back then. It’s probably because anyone – preps, Asian nerds, cool Asians, varsity jocks, unfriendly Black hotties, girls who eat their feelings, desperate wannabes, burnouts and sexually-active band geeks – can connect to this movie in some way.
