L.A. Earthquake: Updates And Reactions
Luckily, this morning's earthquake reportedly left Los Angeles with no real damage other than a few broken bottles and jars at supermarkets and some collectibles and picture frames falling off walls in nearby homes.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, Monday morning's 4.4 magnitude earthquake was centered about 5-1/2 miles northwest of Westwood, just south of Encino. The predawn quake struck just before 6:30am, just in time for local morning newscasts.
While USGS officials laughed about KTLA anchor Chris Schauble's facial expression seen on Monday's newscast, they also reiterated that the newscaster and his co-anchor followed the correct earthquake procedure of drop-cover-hold.
