HealthCare.gov Suffering Downtime On Deadline Day

Healthcare.gov has come a long way in the months since its horribly fuddled and glitchy October launch, but on deadline day, when it really matters, the site is once again suffering from glitches and downtime. 

The site was inaccessible this morning for six hours, and despite there being existing contingency plans, by noon eastern time people trying to open new accounts on the exchange were unable to do so.

Health and Human Services, the government agency which runs the healthcare exchange, told Politico that it would allow special enrollment for people who hit glitches on or before the deadline. 

As the deadline looms less than twelve hours away, enrollment is rapidly approaching six million Americans.
