Crimea Wants To Be Annexed By Russia
The legitimacy of the move has been called into question. Last month, pro-Russian troops took control of the peninsula and stormed the parliament building, at which time a new pro-Moscow government was elected. The parliament no longer acknowledges the power of authorities in Kiev.

According to CNN, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk called the vote “illegitimate,” saying the referendum “has no legal grounds at all.” The Russian government said it will wait until after the referendum to make a decision on the matter.
