Kamryn Renfro entered Caprock Academy like any other school day Monday, but was told to come back with a wig on because her shaved head was in violation of dress code, Fox News reported.

She shaved her head in an act of solidarity for her friend, Delaney Clements, who is battling cancer and bald.

The school board said “the dress code is designed to promote uniformity and a non-distracting environment,” WJLA, an ABC affiliate, reported.

After the story went national, Caprock Academy buckled and allowed the 9 year old to come back Tuesday, New York Daily News reported.
