Jay Leno’s second-to-last outing as the host of “The Tonight Show” drew in the largest number of viewer’s the show has seen in years. According to Deadline, the Wednesday episode was the show’s highest rated episode since Leno returned as host in 2010.

Leno’s guests for his penultimate show were Sandra Bullock and Blake Shelton. A tearful Bullock thanked the host for his years of kindness, saying, “You were always so welcoming and every single person on your crew was that way consistently, and I just felt special even when I felt very insecure. In one bit, Fallon wrote Leno a thank-you note, saying "Thank you Jay Leno, for carrying on the proud tradition of the Tonight Show host with such humor and class and for being nothing but gracious and generous to me over the past years. I will do my best to make you proud every single night.”

Leno has had his last week as host of “The Tonight Show” before, so whether Fallon will stay so grateful remains to be seen.
