Florida: Next Paradise For Prescription Pot?

Florida may be the next state to welcome cannabis connoisseurs from afar – for science, of course.

Florida Supreme Court cleared the final hurdle to getting the medical marijuana on the November ballot, according to WFTV, an ABC affiliate.

Florida is also set to institute a cannabis college in Tampa, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The school used to function as a cigar factory, according to the article.

ABC Action News interviewed the mastermind behind "higher learning" Jeremy Bufford, the founder of the school dubbed Medical Marijuana Tampa.

"We're not trying to set up a shop where were selling drugs," Bufford told ABC Action News. "We're trying to educate people."

The school will offer a course for $499 called “Education in Cultivation” and runs for four weeks.

“Master botanists” will teach students about hydroponics to produce medical-grade marijuana, according to the school’s website.

The Florida justices approved the medical marijuana ballot summary 4 to 3 on Monday.

Voters will get a chance to decide if they want legalize medical marijuana in November.

WFTV reported that opponents are worried the measure will “turn Florida into the next California.”

Tampa’s “cannabis college” and the ballot measure come the heels of changing American attitudes regarding the use of marijuana.

Last year, the majority of Americans said they supported the legalization of marijuana, according to a Pew Research Study.
