Shooting At A Roswell Middle School

A shooting occurred at a middle school in Roswell, New Mexico on Tuesday. According to Roswell police the suspected gunman who opened fire at Berrendo Middle School was arrested on the campus and is now in custody. The shooting took place around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

CNN reported that two children were rushed to the hospital following the shooting. The extent of their injuries have not yet been released. Reporters speculate that the alleged shooter may have been a student at the middle school.

The school has been put on lockdown and the students have been evacuated to a nearby mall where parents can pick up their children. Details of the event are unfolding as police continue their investigation into the motives behind the incident. 

According to ABC News, news of the shooting was initially posted on the Roswell Police Department's Facebook. Police will be holding a press conference at 1 p.m. Tuesday to provide further information to the community.
