President Francois Hollande of France made his first public speech on Saturday following the exposure of his secret love affair with a 41-year old actress named Julie Gayet.

President Hollande addressed regarding the importance of Common Agricultural Policy and the role of French agriculture in relation to European Union, however, refused to make any comment on the sex scandal.

The love affair was reported by Closer Magazine on January 9th, which resulted in the hospitalization of Valerie Trierwieler, France’s First Lady, due to an anxiety attack. According to the magazine, affair between President Hollande and Gayet could be traced to as early as 2012 presidential race.

The 59-year old French president visited his wife in the hospital for the first time on Thursday, and admitted during press conference that he was experiencing “painful moments” in his marriage.

According to the French media, Mrs. Trierwieler’s condition has made progress and has already left the hospital in Paris.

Ms. Gayet, on the other hand, is preparing for a law suit against Closer for privacy breaching that seeks for 50,000 euros ($68,000) compensation in damages and 4,000 euros in legal costs, BBC reported.

With this scandal, the French president reinfornced the stereotype of being overly affectionate, yet again.
