Mayor Garcetti Hosts LAX Shooting Press Conference
Garcetti had spoken to President Barack Obama, who expressed his support for the incident. Garcetti also thanked law enforcement for their coordinated response, as well as volunteers and the Red Cross.

The special agent in charge of the investigation, David Bowdich, of the FBI Counterterrorism Division, then took to the podium. He said that this was a “large investigation” and that Terminal 3, where the incident took place, will be shut down for a while in order for the investigation to be as complete as possible.
Executive Director of Los Angeles World Airports, Gina Marie Lindsey, spoke afterwards and said that Terminals 1 and 2 are being reopened and repopulated, while Terminal 3 and its corresponding parking structure is closed for investigation.
Lindsey stressed that the LAX Twitter feed will provide as much information as possible and any updates to the situation as well.

The Department of Homeland Security’s acting secretary Rand Beers issued a press statement and expressed sympathy for the family of the TSA employee who was killed, as well as the TSA individuals, one of whom had a graze wound on their shoulder. Beers also mentioned that the DHS, including the TSA, will “continue to work side by side with the FBI, Los Angeles World Airports Police Department, LAPD, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to investigate this heinous crime.”
According to CBS, the gunman, 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, from Pennsville, NJ, sent a text message to his parents before the incident saying that he was going to kill himself. Ciancia is currently in custody under critical condition.
