Name: Robert Dwyer

Neighborhood: Walnut

Job: Warehouse Branch Manager

Age: 44

What are the top issues facing Los Angeles?

Obviously jobs are a key issue because of the high unemployment rate...Secondly, healthcare—people don’t know where it’s going to go, so they’re trying to figure out exactly what it means to them because of confliction. I’m not blaming the news; “Obamacare” is hard to understand.

What could Mayor Garcetti do to address your top priorities?

It's always communication, but unfortunately [city officials] would have to get out there and try to inform people. Unfortunately, I think it’s more of a political move—sometimes hard to believe a political figure in that way. I’m not saying go door to door, by [dispersing information] would involve more people....by interacting with the communities themselves.

The most I see mayoral candidates is during the election,; you never see them around town...We, the community, have more of a tentative trust because it’s the only time we see them.

We understand the political nature but at the same time [our needs] don’t always agree with their political agendas. [City politicians are] fighting for their jobs and what their own political agendas.

Did you vote in the May election?

No.
