Margaux invited Jack to be her date to the launch party at Voulez. It seems bizarre that she is expressing interest in Jack- is there noone else in the Hamptons?? Perhaps it's to irritate her father.
Aiden is unhappy about the notion that Emily may still have feelings for Jack. He sets on a mission to throw this potential rival astray...
Victoria continues to meddle into everyone's lives, particularly Emily and Daniel's. Emily takes Charlotte and Victoria to a bridal store to try on outfits for the upcoming wedding. Charlotte will be the only person in the bridal party, it is revealed. In a private conversation, Victoria tells Charlotte that she suspects Emily still has feelings for Jack and intends to expose this.
She's also obsessed with sticking close to her son Patrick, being the ever-controlling mother she is. With Victoria in the city, Patrick is painting in his art studio when Nolan comes to visit him. They have a little tiff about Nolan meeting up with Patrick's ex-wife to get dirt on him. He tells Nolan he's not into playing games and isn't interested in someone who is.
At Voulez, Margaux and Daniel are working hard for the launch of the mag. They've created a cool office space and are excited for the launch- Margaux is even more nervous knowing her father will be attending from Paris.
Nolan gives Emily a pep talk about her relationship with Daniel, encouraging her to open up to Daniel and reveal her heart in order to win his trust again. She ponders this suggestion. The scene reiterates what a great friend Nolan is to Emily- perhaps her only true friend on the show.
Conrad and Victoria sip whiskey at Grayson Manor and discuss the disintegrating relationship between Conrad and Charlotte. Victoria says, "When a woman loses the man she loves who happens to be the father of her child, she feels a pain that is unimaginable. Which she can neither forget nor forgive."
Of course her comment is an allusion to her own feelings about losing David Clarke at Conrad's hand; as well as the situation for Charlotte and Declan.
Jack Porter arrives to his apartment above the Stowaway and discovers Aiden lurking in his room. Shock of the episode- Jack doesn't know who Aiden is?? How could that be possible? Aiden (a random henchman, from Jack's perspective)
threatens Jack telling him to get lost and protect himself and baby Carl. Victoria confronts (sexy) Aiden at her pool telling him that from her perspective, she needs Jack around to keep Emily distracted from the wedding. She warns him that while Conrad may want him talking to Jack, she doesn't and that he needs to think about "which master" is ultimately more important to him. Creepy!
Nolan goes to visit Patrick and they have a heart to heart about Nolan's deceit. He apologizes to Patrick, saying that his defense mechanism is to dig up information on people to make sure they're not lying to them. He acknowleges he messed up. Patrick says they have enough drama with the "two women in their lives" (cough: Victoria and Emily) and seems to forgive him.
Victoria finds Margaux in her office angry about her father. It turns out he refused to attend the opening believing that the premiere issue of the magazine was crap. Victoria takes the moment to encourage Margaux and give her some advice... "You can spend your life being controlled by powerful men, or you can learn to control them".
When Emily finally shows up to the Voulez party, Daniel is truly hurt. They have an intense moment of conversation where he tells here he feels like a character in a story she's writing. "I can't marry you" he says!
Victoria stops by to see her (gorgeous) son Patrick and unknowingly gives him a word of advice that will lead him to give Nolan another chance. If only Victoria knew what her motherly advice was encouraging, she'd be mortified!
Margaux shows up to confront Jack about ditching her at her magazine launch. Once he tells her about the intruder, she apologizes profusely and they share a kiss. She tells him he's such a sweet man, and he tells her she's the first person in a long time to make her smile. Emily is watching all of this secretly from above. Clearly she is jealous.
Aiden meets with the "master he's chosen to serve"- Victoria! He tells her he's looked into the evening of the car crash and has determined the culprit is one of her children.
Charlotte comes forward telling her father she wanted him to die after taking Declan from her. She admits to trying to kill him saying she'll confess everything! "This ends here," says Conrad. "You're my girl and I'll forgive you because that's what parents do." He says that all he's ever wanted is for them to be family again, and they embrace with her telling him she loves him.
Too bad this story is all a lie. In truth, Patrick was the child who tried to kill Conrad! Aiden found a knife covered in auto fluid in Patrick's room. However, Victoria convinced Charlotte to take the blame telling her that otherwise Jack would be prosecuted. (Of course Victoria made no mention of Patrick to Charlotte). And Charlotte only took the blame to protect Jack.
Aiden and Emily share a private moment on the dock overlooking the ocean. Emily tells him he's everything to her and they engage in a deeply passionate kiss. Back at her beach house she finds Daniel packing up his clothes. She tells him she needs to talk and hands him a photograph of she and her parents. She tells him how hard it was for her to lose her family and that it causes her to push people away and have serious problems with trust. Daniel seems truly touched by her confession, watching the tears fall from her eyes with a pained expression on his face. She says she wants nothing more than to stand by him at the altar, and he says he wants that too. The engagement is back on track!
Victoria arrives at Patrick's studio ready to confront him about Conrad's accident, knowing the role he played. She scans the scene and observes that the painting he said he'd be working on all night is not finished. She looks stricken with the realization that she is not in control of her beloved son. At that very moment, Patrick is arriving at Nolan's seaside pad. They exchange a few brief and tender words and then start to get it on. This relationship doesn't seem to be cooling down anytime soon!!
Does it ever feel like this show has us spinning in circles?
