'Revenge' Episode 4 Recap: Mercy

"Mercy" begins with Conrad and Father Paul being rushed through the hospital on stretchers. As you'll remember, last week's episode "Confessions" ended in a fiery car accident. To refresh yourself on "Confessions", click here.

We quickly learn Father Paul doesn't survive the accident. As Emily is crying in the hallway, Patrick appears at the hospital. Emily and Daniel join Victoria and Conrad in his hospital room. Injured, but alive, he quickly starts telling them that Father Paul was behind the wheel at the time of the accident- Emily knows this to be a lie, but confirms Conrad's story for him. He calls her his "guardian angel".
Victoria visits a Hamptons art dealer friend named Sheila. Victoria alludes to her money issues and indicates she'd like a job. Sheila hires her on the spot and promises to throw her a welcome soiree at the gallery. Victoria working? Say what?
Emily appears at Voulez to try to speak with Daniel about the car accident. He's already given Emily's statement to the detective, he tells her. (Why is Daniel helping out Conrad?!) She's miffed she can't provide her own statement and in retaliation provides a statement to Boulay about Daniel that will embarrass him. When the magazine goes to print, Daniel learns that Emily gave a statement about his DUI! This understandably angers Daniel immensely.
Patrick shows up at Sheila's art gallery attempting to sell one of Victoria's paintings to Sheila. As he has no paperwork on the artwork, Sheila's compliance in purchasing the painting is illegal, but she agrees anyway.
Nolan and Patrick run into one another at their Hampton's beach club again. Patrick tells Nolan he feels like he doesn't belong in this community. When he goes for a swim, Nolan swipes his wallet.
"He killed my wife, he killed my brother, all I've wanted is to find a way to make this man pay," Jack told Emily in a private conversation about Conrad at the Stowaway. She tells him she can't promise that he'll end up confessing as she'd hoped.
Emily sneaks into the junkyard where Conrad's wrecked car is set to be demolished. Out of nowhere Jack appears announcing he's there to finally get payback on Conrad. He blackmails Emily into allowing him to be the one to expose Conrad.

Back at Nolan's seaside pad, Nolan is packed for a trip to the sunshine state, as Emily heads to Victoria's gallery debut. Charlotte shows up at the opening for her mother and says she's actually proud of her mom for asserting her independence from her father. Emily appears and spars with Victoria. Lady Grayson says Daniel's check-in to the South Fork Inn is a damning indicator. She also promises neither to forget nor forgive the public embarrassment Em caused at Nolan's pool party. Emily says she hopes to give Victoria her first commission.
Back at computer hacking, Nolan's apparently dug up some valuable information on Patrick. He sits down with a pretty blonde in a Jacksonville, Florida park and begins to inquire about Patrick. He asks her if she's Patrick's ex-wife and her reaction confirms his assertions are correct! She says that Patrick is "a user and a liar" and accepts Nolan's offer of $20,000 to share secrets with him about Patrick.

Victoria corners Sheila about her stolen artwork, accusing her of larceny. She blackmails Sheila into agreeing to handing over her gallery to Victoria! Somehow Sheila agrees and in the next scene it becomes clear that Patrick and Victoria staged the entire plot!
Conrad announces to the family that he was misdiagnosed and does not in fact have Huntington's Disease. Sure he will again live a long life, Conrad is reinvigorated in his quest for domination. He throws back a glass of champagne with evil in his eye.
In private, Daniel asks Emily why she even wants to marry him. She insists that she loves him and asks him to come back home, but he refuses and goes back to the South Fork Inn. In a later private convo, Aiden confronts Emily asking her if Jack knows about her true identity. She explains why she had to tell him to keep him from murdering Conrad. This information seems to make Aiden really jealous. Emily is having serious problems with the men in her life right now.
Nolan and Patrick meet up so Nolan can return his "lost" wallet. In the dim backyard of Nolan's estate, he says that he's so glad Patrick has come back and that he knows a secret about him. Nolan leans forward to kiss Patrick!! Initially, Patrick refuses saying Nolan's being presumptuous. Nolan apologizes saying that he thought he'd picked up on signals. Patrick confirms that and kisses Nolan back!!! "Have mercy," says Nolan surprised. Hottest new pair in town, they agree to go inside for a glass of wine. OMG OMG.
Over at Grayson Manor, Victoria is lamenting Emily's impending nuptials to Daniel. She tells Conrad that allowing Aiden to live in their guest house may be the one thing that can stop their wedding. Just then Aiden bursts into Conrad's office telling him that someone had tampered with his car, blaming the tampered brakes on Jack Porter.
What is Aiden trying to do to Jack? Is he trying to sabotage any relationship that may evolve between the two of them? And will Emily really try to take down Conrad at her wedding to Daniel?
