Dozens of people are believed to be dead in the plane crash that happened in Laos on Wednesday. The passengers who were onboard were a mix of nationalities, including seven from France and possibly one United States citizen, according to the Laos government.

Fox News reported that according to the ministry, "Upon preparing to land at Pakse Airport, the aircraft ran into extreme bad weather conditions and was reportedly crashed into the Mekong River." There are currently no reports of survivors from the crash.

CNN reported that witnesses said that at least 47 passengers died in the crash, however Laotian authorities have not released an official death toll yet.

According to the BBC, Laotian officials said that there had been 44 passengers and 5 crew members on board. Investigations regrading the crash are currently underway and the airline hopes to release its findings on Thursday. According to a Laos airline employee, a news conference is scheduled for Thursday.
