The Los Angeles based rapper was shot and killed in 1996 at the age of 25. He is one of the world's most revered hip-hop artists with a long-lasting legacy and has proven to be extremely influential, especially among young people.

The biopic is set to feature Shakur's music collection and has been in many stages of development since 2011.

Shakur has never had a biopic about himself before, but he has been portrayed in the 2009 biopic, "Notorious" which was about rival rapper Biggie Smalls.
