The USC Trojans looked sluggish and a bit out of sync on their third day of summer practice.

Quarterbacks Max Wittek and Cody Kessler missed golden opportunities to separate themselves in the pending quarterback battle. When asked by the media what stood out about the QBs on Monday, head coach Lane Kiffin's response was, in a nutshell, not much.

In news that will no doubt put a lump in the throats of every single Trojan fan, Kiffin would not even rule out the possibility that the two quarterbacks will continue their competition/timeshare into the regular season.

Incumbent Max Wittek was pressured up the middle all day and had to pull the ball down and run at least three times, preventing him from airing out the ball the way that he wanted to. And when Cody Kessler wasn't busy running laps as punishment, he was busy missing his wide open receivers.

Despite quite a few errant throws, however, Kessler definitely was the sharper of the two.

By the end of the practice, Aundrey Walker and Cyrus Hobbi were sidelined with cramping issues, as many of the Trojans were seen literally feeling the heat.

We caught up with Kiffin, Wittek and new defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast.
