Last week the U.S requested the Hong Kong government arrest Edward Snowden after he leaked classified information on multiple  U.S. surveillance programs which included the monitoring of citizen's cellphones.

Snowden, who was in Hong Kong at the time of the leak, released a video in which he stated the American people needed to know the specific surveillance the government was conducting and that he didn't want to live in a country that did these types of programs.

It was after the video surfaced and Snowden made himself known that the U.S. asked Hong Kong to detain Snowden on a provisional arrest warrant. The warrant, which,  doesn't require upper Hong Kong leader Leung Chun's approval due to its classification, was served on June 14 after they filed criminal charges against him which included, "unauthroized communication of national defense information" and "willful communication of classified communications intellengence information to an unauthorized person"

There is currently no information from Hong Kong on whether or not Snowden is still in Hong Kong as he expressed in his video after the leak that he could potentially travel elsewhere and according to multiple news sources there are individuals willing to help him including a .man with a private jet in Hong Kong who offered to fly him to Iceland.
