Last December, THE MELT—a San Francisco-based grilled cheese company—launched its first Southern California locations in Downtown L.A. and in Hollywood. Now, the famous eatery is expanding to Burbank on June 1 and will be located at 313 N. San Fernando Blvd

On opening day, customers can visit the newest MELT location and receive free grilled cheese sandwich-and-soup combos from 12-6 p.m. if they recite the “secret” password, which will be posted on THE MELT’s Facebook page and Twitter on May 30 at 12 p.m. The company did a similar gig for its Downtown L.A. and Hollywood locations on opening day.

Currently, THE MELT is featuring a flavorful Parisian melt as its ever-changing weekly “Special.” This sandwich—which comprises Brie cheese and pieces of Granny Smith apples topped with honey between a crispy French baguette—is paired with creamy wild mushroom soup. THE MELT also recently updated its menu in April to feature more unique soup-and-sandwich combos—like the savory “Mac Daddy,” filled with cheddar cheese and elbow macaroni between two slices of sourdough bread, paired with a Sausage & Pepper soup—and an all-day breakfast menu

THE MELT’s Burbank opening is part of the company’s plan to expand across So Cal, according to chief marketing officer Paul Coletta, during an interview last December when THE MELT Downtown L.A. location opened. Devoted grilled cheese fans can check out the eatery’s Facebook page and website for all MELT-related news and see where the company’s next So Cal location will be.
