To honor “National Grilled Cheese Day,” THE MELT—a fast-casual eatery that specializes in grilled cheese concoctions—is giving away 10,000 free sandwiches.

The first 10,000 customers who sign up at eatcheese.com from April 1-12 will receive a QR code for a free melt valued up to $6.75. The free melts can be redeemed at any of the chain’s 15 store or bus locations until April 21.

To further celebrate all things grilled cheese, THE MELT is debuting an updated menu. This menu features artisanal soft serve ice cream and handmade milkshakes, new all-day breakfast melts, customers’ all-time favorite “Special Combos” and “Middles” — a variety of premium ingredients available to customize melts.

THE MELT’s updated menu features even more options for the grilled cheese lover. For example, all-day breakfast melts include dishes like the unique “Egg-In-A-Waffle,” comprising a freshly cracked farm egg, aged Cheddar and maple butter in a waffle sandwich. New special daily combos include delicious creations like “The Thanksgiving”—Cheddar, carved turkey, cranberry and stuffing on Sourdough bread, served with a Sweet Corn Tortilla soup—and “The Mac Daddy,” a savory sandwich comprising Cheddar and elbow macaroni on San Francisco Sourdough bread alongside Sausage & Pepper soup. The various “Middles” available to customers that enable them to personalize their favorite melts include ingredients like smoked bacon, Portabella mushrooms, braised short ribs, carved turkey and country ham.

The updated menu now also provides more options to finish customers’ meals on a sweet note. THE MELT is featuring artisanal ice cream — specifically, Madagascar vanilla bean soft serve, with the option of a hand-dipped chocolate shell coating. Handmade double chocolate and Madagascar vanilla bean milkshakes are also available, with the option to add malt.

The updated menu, as well as the free melt giveaways, were the perfect ways to pay homage to the beloved grilled cheese sandwich, according to THE MELT founder and chief executive officer Jonathan Kaplan.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate ‘National Grilled Cheese Day’ than to invite customers to try our new menu and give away 10,000 free melts,” Kaplan said. “This is ‘Grilled Cheese Happiness.’”
