The "Springs Fire" grew to 10,000 acres in its second day and continues to spread, causing hundreds of evacuations and closure of a stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The Ventura County Fire Department has issued a red flag warning, estimating containment at 10%, 954 personnel on site and zero firefighter or civilian injuries.

Due to the strong Santa Ana winds and unusually dry conditions, the Springs Fire, so-called because it started near Camarillo Springs, is particularly challenging to contain. Officials have not yet commented on the fire's cause.
