Texan Mourners Demand Justice For Prosecutor Killings

Thursday's memorial sevice for slain Texas prosecutor Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, inspired solemnity among those in attendance, but not without drawing applause from mourners as demands for justice were voiced.

According to CNN, Chris Heisler, who led the service, drew "cheers and whistles" from the crowd when he said:

"Chase 'em down. Go get 'em. Bring 'em to justice."

The Kaufman County District Attorney and his wife were found gunned down in their home Saturday, just two months after an assistant DA, Mark Hasse, was murdered outside of a nearby courthouse.

The three murders have inspired terror and outrage in Texan officials and civilians alike.

In fact, Heiler's plea comes in the wake of a similar statement by Texas Gov. Rick Perry earlier Thursday, in which he called the killings "direct attacks on the core of our civil society" and announced a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest or prosecution of those responsible.

Keeping with public sentiment, the couple's daughter Christina Foreman shared the message of fortitude and justice she felt her parents would have wanted.

"He was quite eloquent in saying that he didn't give a sh-t if people were scaring him, and he wasn't frightened, and he was going to stand his ground," she said. "And I think we need to follow in those footsteps."
