Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland 63, and his wife Cynthia 65, were found murdered with fatal gun shot wounds to their bodies according to police officials.

The double murders comes only two months after another murder took place of an assistant Kaufman County District Attorney, Mark Hasse, was shot dead on Jan. 31 outside of a nearby courthouse.

Sheriff's Lt. Justin Lewis said the murders are believed to be related.  Forney Mayor Darren Rozell said the McLelland murders appear to be a “targeted attack” related to Hasse’s death.

McLelland was reportedly a visible and personable person in Kaufman County, just southeast of Dallas, in the tight-knit community of 15,000 people.

The FBI, Texas Rangers and local Texas police are currently investigating the murders.
