Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi survived an assassination attempt Monday as a car bomb went off near his vehicle while he drove through a neighborhood of Damascus, according to The New York Times.

A bodyguard was apparently killed, and Syrian state media said that several others were injured.

Video from the scene showed a charred car and a bus with its windows blown out.

Several other Syrian leaders were assassinated earlier in the year as the government continues to wage war on its people.
